Kauri Cliffs Golf Spectacular Cruisetour #15

This itinerary starts BEFORE the accompanying cruise itinerary.

Upon arrival at Auckland International Airport, you will be met outside the customs hall and transferred to the Auckland Domestic Airport for your one hour flight north to Kerikeri in the Bay of Islands. Upon arrival at Kerikeri Airport, you will be met and transferred for the 30 minute drive to Kaurui Cliffs. The rest of the day will be spent at your leisure. Situated on 6,500 acres near Matauri Bay, Northland, the Lodge at Kauri Cliffs offers panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, Cape Brett, and the offshore Cavalli Islands, a portion of which can be viewed from the verandas, living room and card room. The main lodge overlooking the golf course and Pacific Ocean consists of a spacious beamed living room, meeting room, card room, spa, fitness center, and computer room. Gourmet a la carte dining is served in the main dining room, or on the veranda. Eleven outlying guest cottages, each with two guest suites, provide exclusive accommodations at Kauri Cliffs. Every suite offers its own private porch, comfortable bedroom and sitting area with gas fireplace, walk in wardrobe closet and spacious bathroom. After breakfast at the lodge, you will explore the Bay of Islands area, birthplace of the nation. On February 6, 1840, the leading Maori chiefs of Northland, later New Zealand, signed the Treaty of Waitangi, which gave sovereignty of their land to the British. You will visit the historic Waitangi Treaty House and its beautiful grounds, then proceed to the charming Kerkira Basin to view the Kemp House and Stone Store, two of New Zealand's oldest buildings. At Russell, New Zealand's oldest town, some time will be made available for you to stroll along its quaint streets and visit Christ Church, which came under siege when Russell was attacked in 1845 by the local Maori chief, Hone Heke. You will return to Kauri Cliffs in the late afternoon for pre-dinner cocktails, and a 5 course dinner served in the lodge. Overnight at the Lodge at Kauri Cliffs.

After breakfast at the lodge, you will proceed to the links for a relaxing round of golf on what is arguably New Zealand's finest golf course. Selected as one of the 50 best golf courses in the world by Golf Magazine, Kauri Cliffs was designed and built by David Harman of Golf Course Consultants in Orlando, Florida. This Par-72 championship golf course measures 7,119 yards, and offers five sets of tees to challenge every level of skill, Fifteen holes overlook the Pacific Ocean, with six played alongside the cliffs that plunge to the sea. The beautiful inland holes wind through marsh, forest, and farmland, Afterward, you will relax over pre-dinner cocktails and a 5 course dinner served at the lodge. After breakfast at the lodge, you will be transferred to the Kerikeri Airport for your flight back to Auckland. Upon arrival, you will be met and given a short orientation tour of Auckland, the City of Sails, en route to the pier.
